Hey all, I just bought a 2022 Seadoo Spark 3-up and it won't crank. Battery is new, plugs are replaced, oil and filter done. At first it cranked slowly but wouldn't start, now it doesn't crank at all. I removed the starter and it works, but the cam won't move and some oil came out when I pulled the starter. Could the engine be seized? Any advice before I panic completely?

Off, that's a tough break on a new Spark, and based on how you described it, it's looking like a seized engine! I'd start by checking the battery connections, as something corroded or loose connection can cause those exact symptoms. If that's not it, try to manually turn the PTO shaft. If it won't budge, then that could really confirm that the engine is seized. If it is, it's going to be a bigger job. If you bought it from a dealer, you might have some recourse, so definitely check your warranty or sales agreement! I mean, 2022 is still new to have those issues! Good luck, let us know what you find out!

If the cam wont turn and oil came out when you pulled the starter, there's a chance the engine could be hydrolocked, especially if water somehow got into the cylinders . Have you tried pulling the spark plugs and turning the engine over manually to see if anything comes out or if it frees up?? Also, was the ski run recently or could it have taken on water while sitting? Definitely worth checking before jumping to worst-case scenarios.
