Brand new Spark overheating

Got a brand-new 2021 SeaDoo Spark and hit the water for the first time today... everything felt great at 1st . But then, when i hit the throttle, the engine would roar to life only to sputter and shake, barely pushing past 3mph. After a few, it started overheating, but weirdly enough, it never went into limp mode. Totally new to PWCs, so i'm stuck trying to figure out what's going on. Any ideas?

a brand new? wow that's gotta be frustrating. the first thing to check is the intake grate on the bottom of the hull. Put the ski on the trailer and look up into the grate with a flashlight.
You're probably going to find some kind of debris jammed in there. If you can, carefully pull it out. If it's a new ski, your impeller and wear ring should be in good shape, but if you can't see anything, there might be a more serious issue, like a damaged wear ring or a broken driveshaft.
Either way, since it's brand new, this is a definite warranty issue and your dealer needs to handle it

I'll take a look at the intake grate and see if theres anything stuck in there. If it turns out clean, how likely is it that a damaged wear ring or driveshaft could happen right out of the factory? Also, if I dont find anything obvious, should i avoid running it again until the dealer checks it out?
