2021 Sea Doo Spark Trixx flushed dry for a minute?!

My neighbor just had a bit of a scare with his 2021 Sea Doo Spark Trixx, and I'm trying to figure out what his next move should be.

So, he was flushing it after a ride, and his Gardena hose connector broke, which meant it was running for about a minute without any water getting through the system.

Pretty quickly, it started to beep like crazy, and then he got both the check engine light and the regular engine light flashing on the dashboard. Yikes!

He immediately killed it, ran home to grab a big fan to cool the engine down, and then actually pushed it back into the sea to help the plates cool off.

After it had a good while to chill, he started it back up, and thankfully, the engine light went away.

it seemed to run perfectly fine after that. I even took it out for a short trip, putting it through both high and low RPMs, and everything seemed normal, no lights, no weird noises.

He's relieved, but also wondering if there's anything else he should do or check after that little scare.

Any tips on what steps he should take now, or what he should be looking out for? Thanks a lot!

That's definitely a stressful moment! Just to be safe, I recommend checking the coolant system for any more damage and scanning for stored fault codes. sometimes they hang around even if the lights are off.

Also tell your neighbor to check for any oil leaks and to clean the system thoroughly for any buildup debris or salt. And yea, run diagnostic codes
