My Sea-Doo spark revs high but spins under load

Does anyone know why a Sea-Doo Spark would rev up and launch but then spin out under load? It starts strong, but once there's resistance, it loses grip or power, could it be the wear ring or impeller?

Classic symptom of a worn wear ring or nicked impeller. When the gap's too wide, you'll get cavitation, revs climb but no bite under load. Had this happen on my old Spark too, wear ring was chewed up. I'd pull the pump and check both parts. Any visible grooves or looseness?

For a Spark, the wear ring is usually the first thing to check when you're getting high revs but no propulsion.
The Spark uses a plastic wear ring, which is designed to be a sacrificial part.
If it gets worn down, cracked, or dinged by sucking up sand, gravel, or a small stick, it creates a gap between the impeller and the pump housing.
When that happens, water just recirculates around the impeller instead of being forced out the back, causing it to 'spin' without much push. It's a pretty common maintenance item!
